Investigation into MG Rover collapse reportedly included £100k in hotel bills

MG Rover - even in death it's costing money
Business minister Ian Lucas has confirmed that the four-year-long inquiry into the collapse of MG Rover was finally completed on June 11th – at a total cost of almost £16 million.

In a response to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Richard Burden, Mr Lucas revealed that the total cost to the taxpayer of the inquiry was £15,922,838 – including a reported £100,000 spent on hotels and £30,000 on meals by chartered accountants BDO Stoy Hayward.

Mr Burden called on the government to make the findings of the report public as soon as possible – surely the whole point of a public inquiry(!) – saying, "the important thing now is to know what the report contains and I hope the Government will be able to make a statement on that as soon as possible."

Since the collapse of MG Rover in 2005, the taxpayer has had to shoulder more than £500 million in costs, most of which has been down to a £467 million pension fund deficit.

Longbridge endgültig vor dem Aus!?

Offensichtlich wird darüber nachgedacht, Longbridge 2010 komplett zu schließen:

Produktion rechnet sich einfach nicht bei den paar TFs die dort produziert werden.
Da ist China gegenüber UK einfach billiger.

The inquiry was set up by the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry after MGRG, the manufacturer of Rover and MG cars, went into administration on April 8, 2005 owing creditors nearly £1.3 billion.

Gervase MacGregor FCA and Guy Newey QC were appointed as inspectors under section 432 of the Companies Act 1985 and instructed to investigate the affairs of MGRG, its parent company Phoenix Venture Holdings (PVH) and MGR Capital Limited between the purchase of MGRG from BMW in May 2000 and the date of it entering administration.

The inspectors investigated the actions of the directors of PVH throughout their 5 year ownership - particularly Peter Beale, John Edwards, Nick Stephenson and John Towers, known as the Phoenix Consortium.

They also investigated restructuring changes within the Group which led to the creation of 33 separate companies throughout that period; the scale of financial rewards made to the directors and the events which led to administration itself. This included the role of Government to secure bridge finance while take-over discussions took place with Chinese car manufacturers Shanghai Automotive (SAIC).

The inquiry studies the role played by professional advisors including auditors and corporate finance advisers Deloitte and lawyers Eversheds; aspects of corporate governance; and financial statements and audit arrangements including the transfer of assets.

Fast 1 Jahr ist vergangen seit meinem letzen Beitrag hier.
Meinem Rover 25 habe ich Anfang 2009 lebewohl gesagt ( er läuft aber noch immer ganz brav ) . Mein Interesse an MG Rover ist aber
kein bisschen abgeebbt. So bin ich heuer einige Male mit dem MGF eines Freundes unterwegs gewesen und wäre auch beinahe dem Virus erlegen mir auch wieder einen Rover / MG zu kaufen.

Bis jetzt haben die Roewe 2.5 l offiziell 177 PS KV6. Bin erst heute an einem Roewe Autohaus in Xian gewesen.
U.U. die nächste Generation mit 188 PS ?
