Als Langzeit MG-Rover Unterstützer, sowie einer der ersten Händler, die eine Partnerschaft mit NAC-MG eingehen konnten, nimmt SMC Motors in Großbritannien nun die ersten Bestellungen für den MG TF LE500 auf.
Auszug der Webseite von SMC: "Bestellungen können ab jetzt für eine Lieferung innerhalb der ersten 6 Monate des Jahres 2008 erfolgen."
Das bestätigt die Mutmaßungen über Verzögerungen der zuvor angekündigten Launchdaten.

Obwohl momentan keine Preise angegeben sind, sind die Spezifikationen sicherlich wettbewerbsfähig; und um die Zufriedenstellung der Konsumenten zu erlangen, wird der TF mit einer 3-Jahre/60000meilen Garantie angeboten.



Auf Video festgehalten und auf Youtube geposted gibt es einen Entwicklungs-MG TF LE 500, der auf dem kleinen Handlingkurs "Millbrook proving grounds" getestet wird.
Das fragliche Auto ist warscheinlich eines der Pre-production Serie, welche in Longbridge im Vorgriff auf die Vollserienproduktion Anfang 2008 produziert wurde.



Wie auch immer, es ist ein interessanter Fund und zeigt zumindest eindeutig die Balance des Chassis.

Is Ford ready to roll over Rover?

Is the Rover badge set to return to grace Tata's products? Stranger things have happened.

Turns out there's a third well-known brand involved in Ford's breakup of the Premier Automotive Group. And, no, it isn't Volvo. You'll remember that Ford's Land Rover division paid BMW about $20 million last fall for the rights to the defunct Rover car brand. That old dog just may bark again.

Ford won't confirm that the Rover name will go with the upcoming sale of Jaguar and Land Rover. "We are not discussing any details of the potential sale," said Ford spokesman Tom Hoyt. But if Rover is being dealt along with Jaguar and Land Rover, it gives a potential buyer three brands that could form a ready-made car company with worldwide name recognition. Rover cars were sold in 65 markets before the company skidded into oblivion in 2005.

India's Tata is thought to be the leading contender to buy Jaguar and Land Rover in a deal that could close by the end of the year.

Tata has history with Rover cars: The Indian company built the small CityRover for MG Rover from 2003 to 2005. That car was based on a re-badged Tata Indica. If Tata gets Rover, it could relaunch the Rover brand quickly, using the name on a number of existing vehicles. A Tata spokesman said he had not heard about the Rover name being included in the deal.

HB/mcs PEKING. Wie staatliche Medien berichteten, unterschrieb Chinas größter Autobauer Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. (SAIC) am Mittwoch einen Vertrag zur Übernahme des kleineren Rivalen Nanjing Automobile Corp. (NAC). ,,Angesichts des globalen Wettbewerbs müssen wir den Weg der Übernahmen und Konsolidierungen gehen", sagte SAIC-Präsident Hu Maoyuan. Laut ,,Shanghai Daily" ist dies der größte Zusammenschluss in der chinesischen Autoindustrie seit mehr als 20 Jahren.

Nach achtmonatigen Verhandlungen hätten sich die beiden Seiten nun auf einen Vertrag geeinigt. Demnach werde SAIC Motor 320 Mill. seiner Aktien an Nanjing Auto abgeben sowie 2,1 Mrd. Yuan (210 Mill. Euro) in bar an die Muttergesellschaft zahlen. Nach Experten-Schätzungen könnte der neue Konzern bis 2010 einem Absatz von zwei Millionen Autos schaffen.

Während SAIC in Gemeinschaftsunternehmen sowohl mit Volkswagen als auch General Motors kooperiert, arbeitete Chinas ältester Autohersteller NAC bislang mit dem italienischen Fiat-Konzern zusammen. Fiat hat seinen 50-Prozent-Anteil an dem PKW-Gemeinschaftsunternehmen jetzt aber an Nanjing verkauft. Die Werksanlagen von MG Rover in Großbritannien, die Nanjing im Jahr 2005 gekauft hatte, sollen SAIC nun als Sprungbrett für den europäischen Markt dienen.

Die chinesische Regierung hat vor, die aufgesplitterte chinesische Autoindustrie zu konsolidieren. Derzeit teilen sich 47 in- und ausländische Unternehmen den weltweit drittgrößten Markt untereinander auf. NAC und SAIC hatten vor einigen Jahren jeweils Anteile am bankrotten britischen Autoherstellers Rover gekauft. SAIC hatte die Technologie für die beiden Rover-Modelle 25 und 75 erworben und auf deren Grundlage eine Limousine entwickelt. NAC hatte sich beim Kauf des britischen Unternehmens später aber gegen SAIC durchgesetzt.

Es werden wieder MG's gebaut!

THE MG is back - with a Midland car veteran beating Nanjing in the race to relaunch the world-famous sports car. Exactly three years to the day that Longbridge went bust, MG vehicles are once again being made in the Midlands in the shape of the luxury X-Power model.

Worcestershire-based William Riley, a member of the famous Riley motoring dynasty, has launched MG Sports and Racing Europe Ltd from a 2.5 acre factory site in Eardiston, near Tenbury Wells. The £2m venture has already created 17 jobs, including a handful of positions for former MG Rover workers, with the factory producing six high powered MG X-Power WR vehicles a month.

The supercharged MG, a direct descendant of Longbridge's most expensive model, sells for between £75,000 and £90,000. Seven have already been sold and the fledgling firm has 35 other advance orders in the bag. And Mr Riley has plans to eventually launch a purpose built 100,000 sq ft factory within the M5 corridor, employing between 150 and 200 people.

Mr Riley, a lifelong car enthusiast, said: "We have bought the badge rights for the MG X-Power from the administrators PricewaterhouseCoopers - it has been a lot of hard work but it's going well and we are keeping the MG brand alive. "We are in production, making six cars a month. It's very early days but we are very encouraged. We have sold seven cars, all over the UK, and we have got 35 other orders in the pipeline.

"We have exported five cars to America already, in various stages of build. The people who are buying the model are young and middle-aged executives who want an individual, British made sports car. At the moment, we have got 16,000 sq ft of works and offices but in time, I am looking to buy a piece of land or an existing building for a 100,000 sq ft factory, in the M5 corridor, between Tewkesbury and north Birmingham. When we are in full production, we would like to employ between 150 and 200 people. We are in this for the long run."

Mr Riley's launch of the MG X-Power WR comes as the motoring world continues to await the resumption of volume production at Longbridge by Chinese owners Nanjing. Nanjing bought the assets of MG Rover for £53m in July 2005 but, nearly three years on, is still to produce a single car for sale.

"I feel very proud to have launched the MG X-Power WR. So many people in this business just talk. We are up and running and producing cars," added Mr Riley.

...wieso also hier in Nanjing (vorgestern dort) fahren die MGs (neu) auf den Straßen rum. Bis man ein 1,5 Mrd. Volk erstmal mit MGs ruhiggestellt hat, da bleibt für den Rest der Welt nichts übrig. Sind halt Egoisten diese Chinesen...

Mein Gott bist Du einfach gestrickt. Sorry, aber so platte Attitüden kannste am Wörthersee von Dir geben.

Zum Thema: lasst die Kisten besser gleich in ISO-Containern und versenkt diese im Marianengraben. Da kommen die Mühlen wenigstens nicht mehr hoch.

Nochmal, die Qualitätsanmutung dieser Kisten ist für chinesische Verhältnisse sehr gut.
Daher werden die Roewes und MGs für den chinesischen Heimatmarkt gebraucht.
Da wird auch nichts in Container verpackt und zu uns verschifft.
Die fahren alle hier rum und wer je erlebt hat wie hier gefahren wird,
da ist Rost kein Thema.
Die sterben eher durch Kaltverformung...
